An emergency alert has just been issued for the community of Maple Creek, putting residents under a precautionary drinking water advisory.

The advisory message stated that residents should avoid using the water for any purpose related to consumption, including drinking, washing foods, and brushing teeth. People in the community should avoid consuming any of the water from public drinking fountains, their homes, or any sources connected directly to the Maple Creek public water supply.

To use the water, the alert advised to boil it for a minimum of one minute before use. It is uncertain for how long the advisory will remain in place, but further information will be provided once it is available on Swift Current Online.
