This week is National Public Rail Safety Week.

Saskatchewan Shortline Railway Association Chairman Roger Gadd says safety is always of the greatest concern for any railway.  They associate themselves with Operation Lifesaver, as do all railways, and they are pleased that the provincial government is supporting Rail Safety Week.

Gadd says the purpose of the week is to make people aware, and to look at safety of children around railways, asking kids to look both ways before crossing the tracks, and not to tresspass through rail yards.  He adds that CN and CP Police will be monitoring railway crossings to make sure people obey the rules.
