Swift Current RCMP are warning you about phishing scams that appear to be sent from the Canada Revenue Agency just in time for tax season.

There have been reports of telephone calls, mail and emails claiming to be from the CRA. They are saying that taxpayers are entitled to tax refunds or specific amounts and ask for personal information such as your social insurance, credit card, bank account and passport numbers.

RCMP are reminding the public that the CRA will never email you asking for person information and if you comply it could result in identity theft.

There have also been reports of emails that contain embedded malware or malicious software that could potentially harm your computer and put your personal information at risk.

If you receive an email of this nature you can report it to the CRA or by emailing  to the antifraudcentre.ca
