Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and Saskatchewan's other Provincial Parks saw record attendance numbers in 2011.

 

Saskatchewan saw a lot of spring runoff this year, but despite the setback our Provincial Parks were still able to set attendance records.

Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Bill Hutchinson says we set a new all-time high for visitors to our parks this summer: "We had 3.37 million visitors, that exceeds the 2010 number by 3.6 per cent, and beat the previous record which we set in 2009 by almost one per cent."
 
Two thirds of the visitors to our parks came from within Saskatchewan with the remaining third coming from outside our province, with Alberta having the biggest significance.
 
Hutchinson credits the hard work of the Parks employees to get the areas ready after a devastating spring, especially in the eastern half of the province:
