The rodent issue in Swift Current was a hot topic at yesterday's Swift Current City Council meeting.

Director of Engineering Mac Forster says they have hired a third Bylaw Enforcement Officer to help monitor the rodent issue.

Bylaw Enforcement Officers are out daily checking any properties of concern that are called into the Engineering Department, as well as other properties in that area.

City Councillor Jerrod Schafer says the City is being as proactive as they can when it comes to the rodent issue.

Forster adds that they have been monitoring all calls from the public, and they have seen a slight decrease in the number of reports of rodent sightings.

Residents are reminded to keep their properties clean to help prevent rodents from inhabiting them.
