Volunteers fill sandbags in Swift Current last week as water levels in the Swift Current Creek peaked

The RM of Val Marie is looking for help in fighting a possible flood along the Frenchman River.

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says the highest flows since 1952 are expected in the river and its basin as a large snowpack starts to melt in the Cypress Hills.

The R-M put out a call for volunteers to help fill and place sandbags Friday, and sandbaggers are needed again today. Those willing to help are being asked to gather at the sandbagging area at the corner of Highways 4 and 18 in Val Marie at 6:00am and 2:00pm.
