A 69-year old male from Yorkton, Saskatchewan is dead after a fatal single vehicle rollover Sunday night near Stewart Valley.

At 10:00pm, the Swift Current Rural Detachment, Swift Current Traffic Services and EMS responded to the rollover of a semi/cattle liner.

The driver,  who was the lone occupant in the vehicle was transported by EMS to meet STARS but died before STARS could transport him.

According to RCMP, the collision occurred at a curve in the roadway and drivers can come upon it suddenly, with officials encouraging motorists in the area to slow down as emergency personnel are still on the scene.

Approximately 40 head of cattle also died as a result of the collision. Local ranchers are assisting police in rounding them up.

Traffic is moving slowly through the collision scene and is down to one lane in each direction. The roadway is expected to be partially blocked for most of Monday as cleanup crews and heavy machinery continue to work.
