A rate increase for SaskPower has gone through the Rate Review Panel, but not without some changes.

The Crown Corporation applied to the panel for a 13% increase to take effect May 1, however the panel instead recommended an 8.5% increase.

The panel believes the reduced rate increase will be fair and reasonable for the crown corporation and its customers.

Crown Corporations Minister, Ken Cheveldayoff, says he is deffering Cabinet's final decision on the rate increase to allow time to look over the panel's recommendations.
