The next evolution of the Sasktel 4G Network will be available in the new year.

Sasktel launched the first phase of the new 4G LTE Wireless network with a technical trial made available to select employees, with commercial availability our area sometime throughout 2013.

"We have some towers already enabled with the infrastructure that's required for the 4G LTE network," said Michelle Englot with Sasktel, "basically it allows us to test the network and the devices, and make sure we are ready for our commercial launch."

The new LTE network, which stands for long term evolution, will provide download speeds of up to 100 megabits per second, which will give customers the opportunity to stream HD movies, as well as many other things, up to 5 times faster than the existing network.

"Throughout 2013 we do have plans to roll the network out to Estevan, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Prince Albert, Swift Current, Weyburn and Yorkton.  We will be announcing plans on an ongoing basis as we turn up the service in those areas."
