Akira Schmid made 31 saves for his second postseason shutout as the New Jersey Devils blanked the New York Rangers 4-0 in game seven of their first-round NHL playoff series Monday night. 

Michael McLeod, Tomas Tatar, Erik Haula and Jesper Bratt scored for the Devils, who will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the next round. The other Eastern Conference semi-final matchup has the Toronto Maple Leafs taking on the Florida Panthers with game one at Scotiabank Arena tonight. 

The Western Conference semi-finals have the Edmonton Oilers taking on the Vegas Golden Knights, and the Seattle Kraken facing the Dallas Stars, with that series opening tonight in Dallas.

In the WHL, the conference finals resume tonight with the Winnipeg ICE visiting the Saskatoon Blades and the Kamloops Blazers hosting the Seattle Thunderbirds. Winnipeg and Seattle both hold 2-0 leads in their series.

Red Sox walk off Jays at Fenway

Alex Verdugo hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 6-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night at Fenway Park. Bo Bichette hit a three-run homer for the Jays, who lost for just the fourth time in their last 12 games. 

Yusei Kikuchi starts for Toronto as the series continues tonight. 

Sixers and Nuggets win NBA playoff games

James Harden had 45 points as the Philadelphia 76ers opened their NBA Eastern Conference semi-final with a 119-115 win over the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic had 39 points and 16 rebounds as the Denver Nuggets beat Phoenix 97-87 to take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference semi-final.

Tonight, the Miami Heat look to take a 2-0 lead on the New York Knicks at MSG, while the Golden State Warriors open their Western Conference semi-final series at home against the LA Lakers.

CFL Draft goes tonight

The CFL Draft happens tonight with the Ottawa REDBLACKS holding the first overall selection. The Saskatchewan Roughriders will make their first pick at third overall.

The pre-season begins on May 22 with the regular season opening on June 8. The Riders will play their season opener against the Elks in Edmonton on June 11.
