A Herbert man appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court to answer to a number of charges stemming from an incident on September 18th that involved a high speed chase.    26 year-old Miles Luke James is charged with breach of probation, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, uttering threats and assault.

   He was charged after an incident on September 18th at around 12:30 in the morning where a high speed chase took place in the city, continued to the rural area and then onto the number one highway.

   The pursuit ended in Swift Current after the truck ran over 2 spike belts.

   James sustained a gunshot wound during the incident and was taken to hospital with non life threatening injuries.

   His defence lawyer is asking for 2 to 2.5 years in custody as a sentence, while the crown is currently seeking 4 years.

   Sentencing for James has been set for Monday, November 24th.
