New Labour Legislation tabled by the Saskatchewan Party government is under fire from the President of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour.

Larry Hubich says the amendments to the Trade Union Act are undemocratic, and imply the government's goal to break unions.

Minister of Advanced Education, Employment, and Labour, Rob Norris says the legislation is not unreasonable and brings the province on par with the national norm.

Norris adds the Public Essential Services Act balances the rights of workers with the need to maintain essential services and ensure public safety.

The Trade Union Act amendments focus on helping to ensure a fair and balanced labour market with democratization.
