Think twice before riding in a truck bed around the RCMP.

Saskatoon and Regina police departments are not issuing tickets for riders in the back of pickup trucks, but the RCMP will be.

This contradiction from two levels of law enforcement has got SGI asking questions.

"We are now actually looking into this further because we want to make sure that there is clarity and consistent interpretation of the law is important of course. We are going to be speaking to the organizations involved and the Ministry of Justice as well to make sure there is clarity," Kelley Brinkworth the Media Relations Manager at SGI said.

SGI's policy on the matter sides with RCMP's interpretation of the law.

"If the back of the truck does not have seats and seat belts then it is not legal for you ride in the back," Brinkworth stated.

The penalty for disobeying Section 144(1) of the Traffic Safety Act is a $150 fine and 3 demerit points on your license.
