In light of recent public inquiries about contractors soliciting their services in the Shaunavon, Frontier and Climax areas, Shaunavon RCMP want to remind people that most reputable contracting services will provide a business card, estimates without payment obligations, and do not require payment up front before work is completed.

Contractors will also usually guarantee or offer a warranty as part of their completed work.

Due diligence on the part of someone obtaining a service is also advised as research should be done on a company and local references should be asked for.

The public should be aware of the potential warning signs that could be an illegal scam such as cash only offers, deals too good to be true, one time or time limited offers of left over materials or any offers that induce you to act quickly.

If you are not comfortable with doing business with an unsolicited stranger at your door, or something is suspicious, decline their services.
