Demand for the Great Western Railway continues to grow.

The short-line rail based out of Shaunavon covers almost 600 kms of track which includes the Shaunavon, Vanguard, Altawan, Notukeu and Fife Lake Subdivisions.

In November of 2004 the short-line rail was purchased by a large group of local producers and is now locally owned.

They presently have about 4400 cars.

Roger Gadd is the general manager of Great Western Railway. He says the system has proven to be a valuable service for local producers.

With Great Western, farmers can save approximately a thousand dollars for a car of grain.
