Seven Swift Current U18 AA Broncos had their names called during the 2023 SJHL Draft today.

The Battlefords North Stars used their two first-round picks to select a pair of brothers from Gull Lake, Sam and Will Kirwan.

Sam was selected seventh overall after leading the Broncos in scoring with 55 points in 33 games. The forward also netted a team-high 27 goals.

The North Stars drafted Will with the final pick of the first round at 12th overall. The defenceman registered 18 points in 30 games.

The Kindersley Klippers then landed a pair of Swift Current defenceman in the second and third rounds. Brady Simpson went 20th overall while Kai Packet was taken 33rd overall. 

Simpson was second on the team's defence in scoring with 20 points while Packet had 12 points.

Swift Current's Ryder Woods was chosen by the Yorkton Terriers in the fourth round with the 39th overall pick.

Woods, a forward, only appeared in four games but had six points. 

Two picks later Eastend's Blake Girard had his name called by the Melfort Mustangs with the 41st overall selection. The forward played 29 games for Swift Current notching 27 points for sixth in team scoring.

And forward Cooper Flath from Dismore was the third U18 AA Bronco picked by the Klippers. He went in the fifth round, 50th overall after finishing fourth in team scoring with 33 points.
