A driver on Highway #1 was found hauling a motorcycle sticking out of his car's truck.

On Monday night at around 10:30 pm, Morse RCMP received a complaint from a concerned motorist who advised the police of the traffic hazard. Members later caught up with the 22 year-old driver from Calgary in Herbert.

"The driver had picked up a motorcycle and was transporting it back to Calgary however he didn't have the best vehicle to do that with," Sergeant Evan Gordon tells SwiftCurrentOnline. "His fix was to secure the front of the motorcycle in the trunk of the car and actually had the rear wheel of the motorcycle rolling on the pavement behind the car."

RCMP issued a warning to the driver and was required to make the haul safe before proceeding, including removing the rear tire of the motorcycle. Sergeant Gordon urges motorists to take extra caution when hauling items on the road.

"Just ensure if you are picking up an ATV, a motorcycle, a side-by-side, a snowmobile that you have the proper equipment to transport it with - a pickup truck or a vehicle with a trailer towed behind. Make sure that your rear marker lights are working. If you do have any loads hanging over the edge of your vehicle or extending past the end of your vehicle, to have them flagged appropriately," he said.
