After last night's snowfall and freezing rain, highways around the southwest are in very poor condition.

Many of the highways are snow-covered with icy patches, and most of the city's streets are covered in ice.

In southern Alberta, as many Rider fans are heading to the Grey Cup, the Alberta Motor Association reports that highways in the Calgary area are also in very poor condition.

For up-to-date information, you can call the Highway Hotline at (888) 335-7623.

Road conditions should improve as the plows come out today and the weather warms up.
