Southwest senior high school badminton players brought their A-game last weekend at the SHSAA Regional Tournament in Rosetown.

A total of 10 teams competed last Saturday for one of the top two places in their pool, as only the top two in each will be advancing to provincials.

Val Marie's Pierce Schmidt took second after sweeping his first two sets before he lost to Moose Jaw Central.

Maple Creek mixed doubles team, Savannah Frey and Aydan Buss secured second, winning their first two sets before being defeated by Moose Jaw Central.

Tealyn Whitefish from Maple Creek also placed second in girls' doubles with a strong start before losing her final game to Rosetown.

In the week prior to regionals, an injury was sustained by a member of the SCCHS mixed doubles team, causing them to forfeit their place to a Maple Creek team who'd previously won third in their districts.

Frey, Buss, Whitefish, and Schmidt will be heading to the SHSAA Badminton Provincials this coming Saturday in Nipawin.
