Legionnaires game postponed tonight

The Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires will have to wait until the weekend to keep their winning streak going.

The team announced this morning their home game against the Moose Jaw WINMAR Warriors has been postponed due to a number of players on the Warriors affected by illness. No makeup date has been announced.

The Legionnaires will host the Prince Albert Mintos for a pair of games this weekend.

Draisaitl has three-point night as Oilers beat Penguins

Leon Draisaitl had a goal and two assists as the Edmonton Oilers rallied with four goals in the second period to double up the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 in last night’s NHL action. 

Evander Kane, Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also had a goal and an assist for the Oilers. Sidney Crosby scored in a losing cause for the Penguins. 

Meanwhile, the Vancouver Canucks suffered another frustrating loss falling 3-2 at home to the Carolina Hurricanes. JT Miller had both goals for the Canucks, who still haven’t won a game this season after seven times of asking. 

In other action, Connor Hellebuyck made 25 saves for the shutout as the Winnipeg Jets blanked St. Louis 4-0, Ottawa picked up their fourth straight win in a 4-2 victory over Dallas, and the Toronto Maple Leafs dropped a 3-1 decision to the Vegas Golden Knights.

Ten games are on the NHL schedule tonight including the Montreal Canadiens hosting the Minnesota Wild and the Calgary Flames at home to the Penguins.

Patriots bench Mac Jones in loss to Bears

Justin Fields threw for 172 yards and ran for 82 more as the Chicago Bears beat the New England Patriots 33-14 in the NFL Monday Nighter. 

The Patriots benched quarterback Mac Jones for Bailey Zappe while down 10-0 in the first half. Zappe led New England to back-to-back touchdowns and a 14-10 lead before Chicago scored 23 unanswered points for the win. 

Raptors edge Miami to split pair with Heat

Fred VanVleet scored 24 points and Pascal Siakam added 23 more as the Toronto Raptors got by the Miami Heat 98-90 to split a back-to-back set in South Beach. The Raptors play another two-game set with the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday and Friday.
