Broncos host Giants for first time since 2017

The Vancouver Giants will make their first visit to Swift Current in five years when they take on the Broncos tonight. 

Tyler Steenbergen scored and Logan Flodell made 38 saves for the shutout as the Broncos beat the Giants 1-0 the last time the two teams played at InnovationPlex on October 13th, 2017. 

Swift Current is on a three-game winning streak heading into tonight’s game while Jaden Lipinski scored the winning goal as the Giants beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 2-1 in OT Tuesday night to go 2-2 so far on their Central Division swing. 

Tonight’s game starts at 7:00 with Living Sky Casino Broncos Hockey beginning at 6:30 on the Eagle 94.1 FM. 

Other WHL action last night had Prince Albert beating Tri-City 5-4 and Lethbridge routing Victoria 5-1. Saskatoon hosts the Americans, Brandon entertains Everett and Calgary welcomes Victoria on tonight's schedule.

Wildcats on the road in Weyburn

The Innovation Credit Union U18 AAA Wildcats make a trip to Weyburn for the third time this season tonight. 

The Wildcats beat the Gold Wings 3-1 and 4-0 on the road last month. Swift Current is coming off a 3-1 loss to Prince Albert on Saturday and sit in a tie with Regina for first in the league standings. 

The Wildcats return home to face the Saskatoon Stars this weekend.

Kane hat trick lifts Oilers to win over Predators

Evander Kane had a hat trick and Leon Draisaitl had a five-point night as the Edmonton Oilers pounded Nashville 7-4 in Tuesday's NHL action.

Meanwhile in Calgary, the Seattle Kraken scored three goals five minutes apart in the third period to rally for a 5-4 win over the Flames. 

Elsewhere, Kirill Kaprizov scored twice as Minnesota beat Montreal 4-1, Nikita Kucherov had three points as Tampa Bay got by Ottawa 4-3 and Vancouver dropped a 5-2 decision to the New Jersey Devils. 

Tonight's NHL schedule sees the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers squaring off at Scotiabank Arena. The Leafs have lost their last four in a row while the Flyers come in on a two-game losing skid. Pittsburgh visits Buffalo in the only other game tonight.

Phillies hammer Astros to gain edge in World Series

The Philadelphia Phillies hit five home runs off Lance McCullers, Jr. to power their way to a 7-0 win over the Houston Astros in game three of the World Series. McCullers became the first pitcher to ever allow five homers in a World Series game.

The Phillies lead the series two games to one with game four tonight in Philadelphia. The Astros will start Cristian Javier against Aaron Nola.

Riders fire Maas but Dickenson and O'Day stay on

Head coach Craig Dickenson and general manager Jeremy O’Day will be staying with the Saskatchewan Roughriders despite a disappointing season that saw the team miss the playoffs for the first time in six years. 

Offensive Coordinator Jason Maas was relieved of his duties along with assistants Steven Sorrells and Travis Moore. 

The Riders finished fourth in the west division with a 6-12 record. The Grey Cup will be played in Regina on November 20.

Canada sweeps Tuesday games at Pan Continental Championship

Kerri Einarson’s Canadian team rolled to a 12-1 win over Kazakhstan and an 8-1 victory over Hong Kong to stay unbeaten at the Pan Continental Curling Championship in Calgary. They’ll take on Brazil and Australia today. 

On the men’s side, Brad Gushue routed Brazil 7-1 to move to 1-1 and will face Japan and Korea today. 

The inaugural event will determine which countries outside of Europe will qualify for next year's World Curling Championships.
