U15 Wildcats lose to Regina on the road

The Graphic Edge U15 AA Wildcats dropped a 4-1 decision to the Regina Rebels on Tuesday night in the Queen City with Dior Stringer scoring the lone goal for Swift Current in the second period.

The Wildcats will play their first home games of the season this weekend when they welcome the Southeast Gold Wings to S3 Arenas.

In the WHL last night, Kamloops beat Brandon 5-2 and Winnipeg edged Victoria 3-2. There are four games across the league tonight including Lethbridge hosting Saskatoon, Red Deer welcoming Calgary, Winnipeg visiting Vancouver and Brandon heading to Kelowna. The Swift Current Broncos play their next game on Saturday at home against Lethbridge.

Flames rally to beat Vegas, Canucks blow another lead in loss

Mikael Backlund scored the winning goal with 4:29 left as the unbeaten Calgary Flames came back from down 2-0 to beat Vegas 3-2 and hand the Golden Knights their first loss of the season.

Meanwhile, the Vancouver Canucks continue to prove that no lead is safe. They lost their fourth game in a row, all after holding multi-goal leads, falling 4-3 in overtime to the Columbus Blue Jackets. 

In other NHL action, the Ottawa Senators beat the Boston Bruins 7-5 and the Buffalo Sabres doubled up the Edmonton Oilers 4-2. The Winnipeg Jets are the lone Canadian team in action tonight as they visit the Colorado Avalanche.

Yankees advance to ALCS while Phillies win NLCS opener

The New York Yankees moved on to the American League Championship Series after a 5-1 rout of the Cleveland Guardians in the fifth and deciding game of the ALDS on Tuesday. 

Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge homered for the Yankees, who will face the Houston Astros in the best-of-seven ALCS with game one set for tonight in Houston. 

Meanwhile, Kyle Schwarber hit a towering 488-foot solo home run and Bryce Harper also homered to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 2-0 win over the San Diego Padres in game one of the NLCS on Tuesday night. Game two goes this afternoon.

Warriors and Celtics win NBA season openers

The Golden State Warriors started their NBA title defence with a 123-109 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, while the Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers 126-117 in the other game on opening night. 

The Toronto Raptors host Cleveland in their season opener tonight.
