Saskatchewan Transportation Company will increase passenger fares by an average of 5.5% beginning August 1, 2014.

"We're looking at an average fare increase for some our tickets at around $1.90," said Candace Phelps, Executive Director of Planning and Communications for the Crown Corporation. "STC faces inflationary pressures and rising operating costs, mostly in the areas of fuel, maintenance and wages, and our goal is to issue small annual increases to offset our government subsidy while trying to keep our services affordable for our customers."

The last STC fare increase took place in October 2013.

Phelps says STC continues to offer an assortment of sales and promotions to encourage new and repeat riders. Currently they offer youth seat sales to those aged 12 to 25 for a $20 one way ticket.
