A hit-and-run on the City's southside on the morning of Victoria Day has left the streets a little darker.

The Swift Current City RCMP received the call of a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo crashing into the street lamp at 5:12 a.m.

The informant relayed to the police they saw the driver run away from the scene on 2nd Avenue Southeast.

Upon arrival at the crash, the RCMP could smell alcohol and located an empty beer can. Patrols turned up no suspects, but the driver turned himself in at 10 p.m. on May 23.

He was issued tickets for failing to report an accident and for having a beverage of alcohol in a vehicle.
