A stiff prairie breeze went through the southwest yesterday and continues into this morning.

According to Environment Canada, Swift Current had a peak wind gust yesterday of 80km/h.  The strongest winds were in Regina, where they reached 93km/h.

Wind warnings that were issued yesterday remain in effect for much of southern and central Saskatchewan, but have since ended for the southwest.  However, the winds will remain strong this morning with gusts up to 70km/h.

The wind has affected SaskPower transmission lines, causing power outages in Swift Current and other communities this morning.  The high winds have also prompted the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure to temporarily close the Riverhurst Ferry this weekend.

The winds will continue until this afternoon when they will finally die down.
