The Cypress Health Region went over several topics during their Regional Health Authority meeting on Wednesday, one being the successful physician recruitment for our region.

"We are probably in the best position in our region that we've been in many many years. We have 58 physicians that are resident in The Cypress Health Region. That includes our family physicians and specialists. We also have 12 physicians that visit from other communities to provide special services in our region," said Beth Vachon, Cypress Health Region CEO.

The rural physician positions have also been filled, Vachon adds.

"We have been recruiting for two internal medicine specialists and we have some great, promising candidates in that specialty. In that perspective I think this is the most stable we've been for our physician services," said Vachon.

She also mentions that there's someone to thank for most of the success.

"Grant Browne provides that role in our region. Grant has done a tremendous job and I think a lot of the credit for the success that happens in our region with physicians needs to really be attributed to the work that he does in forming relationships will all our physicians and really maintaining those relationships throughout their practice time," said Vachon.

The Cypress Health Region also went over topics such as the Shaunavon CEC progression, the new project in Maple Creek and updates on acquiring flu vaccine for the province, keep checking out Swift Current Online for all the details.
