This Sunday is set for the return of one of the biggest springtime events in Swift Current.

Picnic in the Park is ready to return to Riverside Park, marking another great way to start the sunshine season.

Dan Johnson is CEO of Innovation Credit Union and is pretty excited to see the event popping back up for the year.

"We really like to contribute to the community," said Johnson. "This one we really like because things are expensive, especially recently with entertainment and food or just taking your family out to do something. We like this one because, again, it's free."

This will be the 42-year Picnic in the Park that has been put on via a partnership between Innovation Credit Union and the City of Swift Current.

"It's been on a three-year hiatus but we're so excited that it's back this weekend," said Johnson.

The goal for Picnic in the Park is to keep it as it was years ago. Things are a little bit cheaper, with things like $0.50 hotdogs and ice cream. In total, 25 local organizations will be helping bring some fun to the day.

There will be activities like face painting, inflatables, and even some entertainment scheduled to make an appearance.

"Bryce Lewis, Danny Kazam, even Ricky Forbes the tornado hunter will be there," shared Johnson. "He'll be showing off his vehicle and signing some autographs."

The weather for Sunday is forecasted to be warm and sunny and should be perfect for everyone to come out and enjoy the day. Even if it does rain, plans are in place to move it to the Stockade Building in Kinetic Park.

Picnic in the Park will be running from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Riverside Park, on June 4.
