The Nature Conservancy of Canada is hosting the Super Southwestern Weekend volunteer project this weekend.

The team will work together at the Nature Conservancy's Old Man on His Back Prairie Heritage and Conservation Area Southwest of Shaunavon.

"Old man on His Back ranch sites is one of our signature sites in Saskatchewan," said Conservation Volunteers Event Leader Michelle Dano with NCC about the site. "It is 13,000 arches so it is very large, there is 100 head of genetically pure bison on the property. The volunteers will get a chance to see and count the young bison."

Camping out at the site volunteers will be helping out to paint Butala house, installing a nesting infrastructures and creating an interpretive garden.

Dano says for volunteers coming out it will be a great time to experience the native grasslands area.

"Come out and kind of step away from your busy daily life and come enjoy the quite, it is all native prairie. You will get your hands dirty, learn a bit about conservation. Learn how you can help out on your own property and on NCC property. "

Currently there are 15 volunteers signed up adds Dano. The annual event is still open to volunteers and those interested can contact Michelle Dano at 306-347-0447.
