The issue surrounding non-resident fees for Swift Current Rec Facilities has been contentious since it was passed by City Council last month.

At their meeting this week, the Southwest Municipal Government Committee, which represents all municipalities in the southwest region, made a motion urging the city to rescind their motion on the fees.

Committee Co-Chair Betty Kramer says the city should have approached the issue better with consultation before passing the motion in council, so they are asking the city to rescind the motion, and believe that an apology is in order as well.

Kramer adds their committee's mandate is to promote southwest Saskatchewan as a whole, and feels the user fees are not in the best interest for the entire region.
