SWAC Sr Badminton District playoffs took over the SCCHS gym on Saturday, crowing five gold medalists, and forming the SWAC team headed to SHSAA Regionals.

With the top two advancing to Regionals from each category, those who made the final kept their chance at a provincial medal alive.

In Girls Singles, Ponteix's Sara Kendall clinched Gold defeating Hazlet's Cassandra Benson in a three-set thriller in the final (21-19, 10-21, 22-20).

Over in Boys Singles, Fox Valley's Bobby Hudec took the Gold in a dominant performance. In the final Hudec topped Cabri's Dallyn Jamieson 21-9, 21-12.

Shifting to Girls Doubles, the Leader Saints' Payton Stimson and Kyla Tumbach cruised through the competition, culminating with a 21-7, 21-13 win over fellow Saints' dup Megan Tumbach and Kerstyn Wenzel.

Leaders' doubles dominance continued in Boys Doubles with a tight two-set tilt in the final. Carson Leach and Jordan Mastel defeated Fox Valley's Sam Ganert and Ethan Bosch 21-19, 22-20 for the Gold.

Meanwhile, the Fox Valley Legends mastered the Mixed Doubles with a Gold-medal performance from Matthew Ganert and Kenna Anton in a 21-15, 21-11 victory over fellow Legends Nicholas Ehnisz and Rebecca Chou.

SHSAA Badminton Regionals are May 5 in Moose Jaw, with the top two teams advancing to SHSAA Provincials held in Wilkie May 12.
