Central School in Swift Current will be slowing transitioning to a K-8 school.

This fall will see some changes to the Chinook School Division City schools.

With the closing of Ecole Oman school last month and École Centennial School opening this fall.

The division is also phasing out of middle schools in Swift Current. Central School is one of the schools in a transition zone to become a K-8 school by the 2016-2017 school year.

Communications Coordinator with the Chinook School Division Joanne Booth tells us about the upcoming transition.

"We are just hoping for a smooth transition.  We have wonderful staff, teachers, administrators and support staff at Chinook that are going to be helping with any of the transitions coming up in the next few years," said Booth.

To accommodate the changes modifications are also being made to the Swift Current Comp High School and Irwin school sites, with a bus loading and unloading area as well as the finishing touches on the new École Centennial School opening this fall.

Booth says for any addition information on the upcoming school transitions you can go to the Chinook Website.
