The Swift Current Curling Club is playing host to another major event with the CURLSASK Mixed Doubles provincial championships happening from Thursday to Sunday.

"It's not your traditional curling, this is the mixed doubles which very recently became an Olympic sport," said Chris Haichert, General Manager of the Swift Current Curling Club. "It's two-person teams and you actually pre-place rocks out on the ice before each end... it's a different discipline but it's one that's become really popular."

Nineteen pairings will compete in a triple-knockout event and Page Playoffs with the champions representing Saskatchewan at the Canadian Mixed Doubles Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick, from March 17-22. Haichert adds some of the top curlers in the province will be in town including many that recently competed for provincial team championships.

"Steve Laycock, Nancy Martin, Rylan Kleiter, Michelle Englot, the list goes on, as well as several local curlers that will be here testing their luck against these top teams," he added.

The event is free for curling fans to attend, and games will also be live streamed for free on the Swift Current Curling Club's YouTube channel.
