The City of Swift Current is accepting nominations and entries for the annual Deck the House contest.

Once again, the holiday competition gives residents the chance to win utility bill credit and a Canadian Tire gift card, by letting their Christmas spirit shine bright.

Admin for the City, Kelley Elliot, is the direct contact for all entries.

"Anyone can enter," she said. "They can enter their own home, or if somebody sees a really nicely decorated house out there and wants to nominate it, they absolutely can do that as well."

This year's categories include Best Theme, Best Music and Light Show, Best New Entry, Best Commercial Entry, as well as first, second, and third place for residential homes. Each winner receives a combination of credit towards their utilities and a gift card to Canadian Tire.

Judging takes place on the evening of the 19th. Every entry, regardless of placing in a category, will be added to the City's map for self-guided Twinkle Tours. Simply contact Elliot at 306-778-2723 or admin@swiftcurrent.ca with the address and it will be entered into the Deck the House Holiday Lights Contest.

"I think it's great because it gets people out and into the Christmas spirit," she added. "My family and I, we always go get a hot chocolate and do the twinkle to ourselves. It just kind of gets you going into the holiday spirit."
