Swift Current and area swimmers and future aqua men/women are now able to register for the ACT Swift Stingrays Swim Club.

The season, which will consist of training at both the Aquatic Centre and the Fairview Swimming Pool, begins May 1 and runs until the end of June.

Jackie Powell, long-time ACT Swift Stingrays coach, is looking forward to coaching this year's set of aquatic athletes and hosting a significant event later into the season.

"Things are ramping up and we're excited to get a new season started," said Powell. "It's open to really anybody."

She notes that children as young as five years old can register, and this will be the first year that the Stingrays offer sessions for swimmers over the age of 18.

"We've had lots of interest over the last couple of years and this year we decided we would finally open it up," Powell said when asked about the new adult sessions.

This swimming season is especially important to the Stingrays, as Swift Current is set to host the Swim Sask. Summer Provincial Finals this coming August.

"A lot of our returning swimmers are super excited about being able to attend provincial finals and be able to sleep in their own bed, so that's definitely a bonus," added Powell.

Anyone interested in joining the Swift Stingrays can find the registration link on any of their social media pages or the events page of Swift Current Online.
