You can get a chance to learn about SwiftLink and what they're doing in Brazil at a special event tonight at the joint-use school in Swift Current.

SwiftLink is a group who has been working for the last year in Swift Current's sister city of Bom Jardim, Brazil.

"To date, we're very excited to say that we have 128 children that have been sponsored through World Vision, and also, we raised just over a thousand dollars for an after-school program," said SwiftLink Committee Member Val Choo-Foo. "These after-school programs have been quite successful in our sister city. They offer opportunities for youth to get off of the street, where there is much violence, prostitution and exploitation, and they get to come in have some fun with opportunities to be in workshops of art, music and dance."

Choo-foo says the event tonight will give people a chance to learn more about the work SwiftLink has done in Brazil, and learn more about Brazil itself through fun activities.

"We're going to have some hands-on activities, where you'll get to go around and learn about Brazil through music, art, dance and sport," she said. "We're also going to have some great Brazillian coffee, people get to explore the new school, and also be a part of creating some memorable gifts that we will be personally delivering to the children in Bom Jardim in the near future."

The event starts at 7:00pm from the All Saints Catholic School gym.
