Local tree lovers, outdoor caretakers, environmental enthusiasts, and anyone else interested can attend a presentation and talk full of useful tips on trees coming up next week.

The event begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 15 at the Community Baptist Church in Swift Current and is free to attend.

Bryan Clary, a local arborist and owner of Swift Current-based Hwy32 Tree Services, is eager to help make people aware of what they should or shouldn't be doing to maintain their trees best.

"Trees have a really hard time growing in an urban environment and they need quite a lot of help sometimes," said Clary. "My talk is to explain a little bit more about what we can do to help and prevent unnecessary strains."

He notes a few of the topics he'll cover will include how to ensure your trees don't overgrow, when the best time to prune certain trees is, what kind of trees are best to plant, how to take care of them, and answering common questions people ask.,

"There's always going to be pests and diseases that are always going to take them out and we're going through a very dry patch," Clary said. "Accumulatively over a number of years, trees are just having a hard time."

Clary adds that interested parties don't need to register and although the presentation is complimentary, donations to the Swift Current Horticultural Society will be gratefully accepted.
