In the June 9 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 57 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 57 new cases there is 1 in the Far North West zone, 4 in the Far North East zone, 5 in the North West zone, 3 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 21 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 6 in the Central East zone, 12 in the Regina zone, and 1 in the South Central zone.

There are no new cases reported today in the South West zone.

There is 1 new case with pending residence information.

Five cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 4 to the North Central zone, and 1 to the North West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 47,574, of which 938 are considered active. This marks the first time since November 7, 2020 that Saskatchewan has reported fewer than 1,000 active cases.

There are 17 active cases in the South West zone - 7 in the South West subzone 1, and 10 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 87 (7.1 per 100,000 population).

There is 1 new death reported in the 50-59 age group from the Central West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 552.

There are 171 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 46,084.

There are 109 people in the hospital. Eighty-nine people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North West zone, 13 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 29 in the Saskatoon zone, 5 in the Central East zone, 31 in the Regina zone, 4 in the South Central zone, and 1 in the South East zone.

There is 1 person receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 20 people in intensive care, including 1 out of the province transfer from Manitoba - 1 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 8 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 5 in the Regina zone.

There is 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, there have been 879,641 COVID-19 tests processed in the province.

And yesterday, there were 2,203 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of June 8 there were a total of 11,463 variants of concern cases identified by screening in Saskatchewan - 273 in the Far North West zone, 1 in the Far North Central zone, 73 in the Far North East zone, 706 in the North West zone, 533 in the North Central zone, 75 in the North East zone, 1,952 in the Saskatoon zone, 117 in the Central West zone, 625 in the Central East zone, 4,718 in the Regina zone, 832 in the South Central zone, and 1,103 in the South East zone.

There were a total of 388 in the South West zone.

There are 67 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

No new lineage results were reported.

Of the 6,115 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing, 5,866 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 194 are Gamma (P.1), 45 are Delta (B.1.617.2), and 10 are Beta (B.1.351).

An additional 12,528 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the province, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 828,652.

Of the 12,528 vaccine doses given, there were 489 administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-eight percent of those over the age of 40, 73% of those over 30, 68% of those over 18, and 65% of those over 12 have received their first vaccine dose.

Beginning June 10, second dose vaccinations will be open to include residents 55 years and over, or anyone who received their first dose on or before April 7.

Saskatchewan is expecting another 3,000 does of the Moderna vaccine, along with 74,880 doses of Pfizer vaccine this week.
