In the March 2 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 134 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 134 new cases there are 22 in the Far North West zone, 12 in the Far North East zone, 12 in the North West zone, 5 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 28 in the Saskatoon zone, 8 in the Central East zone, 38 in the Regina zone, 3 in the South Central zone, and 3 in the South East zone.

There is 1 new case with pending residence information.

Four cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows -  1 to the Far North West zone, 2 to the North West zone, and 1 to the Saskatoon zone.

Three Saskatchewan residents who tested positive out of the province have been added to the North West (2) and the North Central (1) zones.

That brings the provincial total number of COVID-19 cases to 28,938, of which 1,492 are considered active.

There are currently  3 active cases in the South West zone - 2 in the South West subzone 1, and 1 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of daily new cases is 144 (11.8 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are 194 recoveries, bringing that provincial total to 27,059.

Two Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. The deaths were reported in the 80+ age group from the North  Central (1) and the Saskatoon (1) zones.

That brings the total number of deaths in the province related to COVID-19 to 387.

There are 154 people in hospital. One hundred and thirty-four people are receiving inpatient care - 4 in the Far North West zone, 2 in the Far North East zone, 11 in the North West zone, 12 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 53 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central West zone, 7 in the Central East zone, 36 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 4 in the South East zone.

There are 20 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 12 in the Saskatoon zone, and 7 in the Regina zone.

To date, there has been 580,241 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 2,175 COVID-19 tests processed.

There were 618 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 80,236.

One hundred per cent of long-term care homes across Saskatchewan have now received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine with 91% of residents choosing to receive the vaccine. Fifty-three per cent of facilities have received both their first and second dose. Nine per cent of long-term care home residents were not immunized due to a variety of circumstances, such as the availability of residents at the time of vaccination, refusal to take the vaccine or a change in health status.

Ninety per cent of person care homes have now received their first doses. Forty-three per cent have received both their first and second doses.

Since the pandemic began a year ago, there have been over 40 outbreaks declared at long-term and personal care homes in Saskatchewan, resulting in over 100 deaths.
