In the May 12 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 183 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 183 new cases there are 4 in the Far North West zone, 26 in the North West zone, 7 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 52 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central West zone, 15 in the Central East zone, 41 in the Regina zone, 7 in the South Central zone, and 23 in the South East zone.

There are 3 new cases in t he South West zone, all in the South West subzone 2.

There are 2 new cases with pending residence information.

Three cases with pending residence information have been assigned as follows - 1 to the North Central zone, 1 to the Central West zone, and 1 to the Regina zone.

Nine cases tested out of the province were added as follows - 1 to the Far North West zone, 4 to the North West zone, 3 to the Saskatoon zone, and 1 to the Regina zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 43,673, of which 2,016 are considered active.

There are 83 active cases in the South West zone - 55 in the South West subzone 1, and 28 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 203 (16.6 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are 2 new deaths reported. One death from the North Central zone and one from the Central East zone, both in the 70-79 age group.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 508.

There are 238 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 41,149.

There are 163 people in the hospital. One hundred and twenty-six of those people are receiving inpatient care - 5 in the North West zone, 3 in the North Central zone, 1 in the North East zone, 60 in the Saskatoon zone, 4 in the Central East zone, 39 in the Regina zone, 7 in the South Central zone, and 5 in the South East zone.

There are 2 people receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 37 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 1 in the North Central zone, 13 in the Saskatoon zone, 2 in the Central East zone, and 19 in the Regina zone.

There is 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date there has been 808,727 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 3,048 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of May 11 there were a total of 8,628 variants of concern cases identified by screening in the province - 194 in the Far North West zone, 8 in the Far North East zone, 341 in the North West zone, 253 in the North Central zone, 50 in the North East zone, 1,098 in the Saskatoon zone, 92 in the Central West zone, 396 in the Central East zone, 4,273 in the Regina zone, 624 in the South Central zone, and 882 in the South East zone.

There was a total number of variants of concern cases in the South West zone of 283.

There were 134 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 2 new lineage results reported. Of the 3,498 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing, 3,438 are B.1.1.1.7(UK), 51 are P.1 (Brazilian), and 9 are B.1.351 (SA).

There are several outbreaks reported in the South West zone. An outbreak in non-household settings is confirmed when two or more people test positive for COVID-19. Outbreaks are listed by the SHA in the following southwest locations - JB's Restaurant/Jiggers Lounge, and the Southwest Terminal in Shaunavon, and the Swift Current Childcare Center, the Elmwood Golf Course Restaurant/Lounge, Pattison Ag, Key Energy and Nimegeers Carlson Law Firm, all in Swift Current. Also an outbreak listed from a Recreational Party in the community of Maple Creek.

An additional 6,737 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in the province, bringing the total number administered to 537,044.

Of those 6,737 doses given, there were 357 administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-two percent of those over 40 have received their first vaccine dose, 62% of those over 30 have received their first dose, and 52% of those 18 and older have received their first dose.
