In the May 13 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of  223 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 223 new cases there are 7 in the Far North West zone, 9 in the Far North East zone, 15 in the North West zone, 12 in the North Central zone, 6 in the North East zone, 71 in the Saskatoon zone, 8 in the Central West zone, 28 in the Central East zone, 24 in the Regina zone, 17 in the South Central zone, and 15 in the South East zone.

There are 5 new cases in the South West zone - 3 in the South West subzone 1, and 2 in the South West subzone 2.

There are 6 new cases with pending residence information.

One case with pending residence information has been assigned to the North West zone.

Thirty cases that were tested out of the province have been added as follows - 5 to the Far North West zone, 10 to the Far North East zone, 4 to the North West zone, 1 to the North East zone, 1 to the Central West zone, 1 to the Central East zone, 4 to the Saskatoon zone, and 4 to the Regina zone.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 43,926, of which 2,032 are considered active.

There are 83 active cases in the South West zone - 55 in the South West subzone 1, and 28 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case numbers is 212 (17.3 new cases per 100,000 population).

There are 5 new deaths reported. One death in the 60-69 age group from the Far North East zone, 2 deaths in the 70-79 age group from the Far North East zone and the North Central zone, and 2 deaths from the 80+ age group from the North West zone, and the Regina zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 513.

There were 232 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 41,381.

There are 161 people in the hospital. One hundred and twenty-six people are receiving inpatient care - 1 in the Far North West zone, 5 in the North West zone, 4 in the North Central zone, 57 in the Saskatoon zone, 4 in the Central East zone, 41 in the Regina zone, 6 in the South Central zone, and 15 in the South East zone.

There are 4 people receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 35 people in intensive care - 1 in the North West zone, 1 in the North Central zone, 14 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 18 in the Regina zone.

To date, there has been 812,142 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday there were 3,415 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of May 12, there were a total of 8,782 variants of concern cases identified by screening in the province - 198 in the Far North West zone, 8 in the Far North East zone, 346 in the North West zone, 261 in the North Central zone, 52 in the North East zone, 1,152 in the Saskatoon zone, 94 in the Central West zone, 409 in the Central East zone, 4,299 in the Regina zone, 634 in the South Central zone, and 902 in the South East zone.

There were a total of 285 variants of concern cases in the South West zone.

There are 142 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are 170 new lineage results reported.

Of the 3,668 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in Saskatchewan, 3,606 are B.1.1.1.7(UK), 53 are P.1 (Brazilian), and 9 are B.1.351 (SA).

The Weekly Monitoring Report for Children and Youth ages 0 to 19 years, for the week of  May 3-9, was released today.

In Saskatchewan, there are a total of 658 active cases in children and youth, with 8 of those with location/residence information unavailable.

Breaking it down there were 27 in the Far North West zone, 3 in the Far North East zone, 59 in the North West zone, 74 in the North Central zone, 12 in the North East zone, 4 in the Central West zone, 44 in the Central East zone, 110 in the Saskatoon zone, 158 in the Regina zone, 38 in the South Central zone, and 69 in the South East zone.

In the South West zone there were 31 active cases in children and youth - 27 in the South West subzone 1, and 4 in the South West subzone 2.

COVID-19 outbreaks have been announced by the SHA at schools in Swift Current, Shaunavon, Tompkins, and Gull Lake.

An additional 8,415 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 545,459.

Of those 8,414 vaccine doses there were 452 administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-two percent of those over 40 have received their first vaccine dose, 62% of those over 30, and 53% of those over 18.

Effective at 8 a.m. Friday May 14 eligibility will expand to those residents aged 23 and older.

It remains at 18 and older for the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District.
