In the May 27 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 118 new cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 118 new cases there are 2 in the Far North West zone, 3 in the Far North East zone, 8 in the North West zone, 19 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 33 in the Saskatoon zone, 6 in the Central East zone, 23 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 14 in the South East zone.

There are no new cases in the South West zone.

There are 6 new cases with pending residence information. 

Three previously reported cases with pending residence information were added as follows - 1 to the North West zone, 1 to the Saskatoon zone, and 1 to the South East zone.

Forty-four cases tested out of the province were added as follows - 5 to the Far North East zone, 1 to the Far North West zone, 1 to the North Central zone, 1 to the North East zone, 2 to the North West zone, 3 to the South East zone, and 14 to the Regina zone.

There are 17 cases with pending residence information.

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 46,163, of which 1,382 are considered active.

There are 32 active cases in t he South West zone - 17 in the South West subzone 1, and 15 in the South West subzone 2.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 137 (11.2 new cases per 100,000 population).

There were 216 recoveries reported, bringing that provincial total to 44.247.

There are 6 new deaths reported. One death in the 60-69 age group, 2 deaths in the 70-79 age group and 2 deaths in the 80+ age group, all from the Saskatoon zone.

One death was also reported in the 70-79 age group from the North West zone.

That brings the provincial total number of deaths to 534.

There are 127 people in the hospital. One hundred people are receiving inpatient care - 7 in the North West zone, 5 in the North Central zone, 2 in the North East zone, 40 in the Saskatoon zone, 4 in the Central East zone, 36 in the Regina zone, 2 in the South Central zone, and 2 in the South East zone.

There are 2 people receiving inpatient care in the South West zone.

There are 27 people in intensive care - 2 in the North West zone, 5 in the North Central zone, 9 in the Saskatoon zone, 1 in the Central East zone, and 9 in the Regina zone.

There is 1 person in intensive care in the South West zone.

To date, 851,638 COVID-19 tests have been processed in Saskatchewan.

And yesterday, there were 2,583 COVID-19 tests processed.

As of May 26 there were a total of 10,367 variants of concern cases identified by screening in the province - 236 in the Far North West zone, 37 in the Far North East zone, 581 in the North West zone, 413 in the North Central zone, 56 in the North East zone, 1,595 in the Saskatoon zone, 109 in the Central West zone, 568 in the Central East zone, 4,590 in the Regina zone, 721 in the South Central zone, and 1,045 in the South East zone.

There are a total of 354 in the South West zone.

There are 62 screened variants of concern cases with residence pending.

There are no new lineage results reported.

Of the 5,711 variants of concern cases with lineages identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 5,528 are B.1.1.1.7(UK), 144 are P.1 (Brazilian), 29 are B.1.617 (Indian), and 10 are B.1.351 (SA).

The Weekly Monitoring Report for Children and Youth aged 0 to 19 years for the week of  May 17-23 shows a total of 527 active cases in children and youth in the province.

Nine of those cases have location/residence information unavailable.

Breaking it down there are 14 in the Far North West zone, 6 in the Far North East zone, 60 in the North West zone, 27 in the North Central zone, 5 in the North East zone, 9 in the Central West zone, 81 in the Central East zone, 145 in  the Saskatoon zone,  89 in the Regina zone, 11 in the South Central zone, and 52 in the South East zone.

There are 19 active cases in children and youth in the South West zone - 14 in the South West subzone 1, and 5 in the South West subzone 2.

For the week of May 11-24 schools listed with COVID-19 cases include The Eastend School, Central School in Swift Current, Ecole Centennial School in Swift Current, O.M.Irwin School in Swift Current, The Shaunavon Public School, Sidney Street School in Maple Creek, and The Shaunavon High School.

An additional 9, 427 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered to 679,274.

Of those 9,427 vaccine doses there were 195 administered in the South West zone.

Seventy-six percent of those over the age of 40, 70% of those over 30, and 64% of those over 18 have received their first vaccine dose.

At this time, AstraZeneca is only available for second doses for people who received AstraZeneca for their first dose, and who are over the age of 85, or cancer patients, solid organ transplant patients, or patients receiving treatment with Rituximab and Ocrelizumab, who have received a letter. These individuals will be contacted for an appointment.
