Not since the early 1990’s have the Snowbirds come to Swift Current for a show.

That will all change shortly.

On September 28th, the Moose Jaw-based Canadian Forces Snowbirds will make the return to Swift Current.

Todd Schultz, Airport Coordinator at the Swift Curren Airport says the Snowbirds will be great, but the show will feature even more.

"We've got Brent Handy who trilled us last year on Mother's Day with a special performance in his pit special Biplane. We also have world class aerobatic performer Gene Soucy," Schultz said. "Gene Soucy is based in Texas and will be flying his heavily modified Ag Cat Biplane. The unique thing about Gene's performance is he will be doing a conventional air show performance during daylight, but the real highlight is after dark when he goes up and does a spectacular performance with pyrotechnics."

The event will also feature Yellow Thunder, a team of two AT-6 Harvard aircrafts.

Schultz also offers some tips to the public, who plan on attending the show.

"The venue is basically standing room, general spectator's areas or folks are welcome to bring their own lawn chair. There will be some bleacher space but it's rather limited," he said. "Being an air show, being that the demonstrations are up in the air, it's not especially important to be towards the front of the venue as you will be able to see and get a great view point from anywhere on the ground."

Schultz added there are tickets for purchase for a shuttle service available from the iPlex.
