The top-ranked Winnipeg Ice completed a four-game sweep of the Tigers with a 3-2 win at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat on Wednesday night. 

In other WHL Playoff action, Braden Yager scored twice as the Moose Jaw Warriors beat Lethbridge 5-2 to finish off a four-game sweep of the Hurricanes, and Seattle moved on to the next round with a 3-0 win over Kelowna. 

Meanwhile, Jake Chiasson scored the overtime winner as the Saskatoon Blades beat Regina 4-3 to tie their series with the Pats at two games apiece, Red Deer beat Calgary 6-2 to take a 3-1 lead in that series, and Prince George routed Tri-City 6-2 to tie the series up at two games apiece.

The only WHL Playoff game tonight has Kamloops visiting Vancouver with the Blazers looking to sweep the Giants with a win.

In the SJHL, the Battlefords North Stars punched their ticket to the league final with a 5-2 win over Melfort to complete a four-game sweep, while the Humboldt Broncos staved off elimination with a 4-1 road win over Flin Flon. The Bombers hold a 3-1 series lead with game five on Friday. The Canterra Seeds Cup final series will start on April 14.

Flames stay in playoff hunt with win over Jets

The Calgary Flames kept their playoff hopes alive with a 3-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets Wednesday night. The Flames and Jets are tied for the last wild card spot in the Western Conference, but Winnipeg holds the tiebreaker and have a game in hand. 

Elsewhere, Ryan-Nugent Hopkins picked up his 100th point of the season as Edmonton beat Anaheim 3-1. Tonight, Toronto visits Boston, Ottawa heads to Florida, Montreal hosts Washington and Vancouver welcomes Chicago.

In women's hockey, Team Canada opened the World Women’s Hockey Championship with a 4-0 win over Switzerland Wednesday night in Brampton, Ontario. The defending champs face Czechia in their next game tomorrow.

Manoah pitches gem and Vladdy goes deep as Jays beat Royals

Alek Manoah allowed one hit over seven innings and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run of the season as the Toronto Blue Jays blanked the Kansas City Royals 3-0. Manoah allowed four walks and struck out five for his first win of the year.

The four-game series wraps up this afternoon with Kevin Gausman starting for the Jays.

Gushue sweeps Wednesday games at World Men's Curling

A draw for four by Brad Gushue in the eighth end wrapped up a 9-4 win for Canada over South Korea Wednesday morning at the World Men’s Curling Championship in Ottawa. The team from Newfoundland followed up with a 9-6 win over the US to move to 6-2 with two days of round robin left at the event. Canada will face Germany and Scotland today and then Türkiye and Sweden tomorrow.

Celtics wrap up second seed in east with win over Raptors

The Boston Celtics beat the Toronto Raptors 97-93 to clinch the second playoff seed in the NBA's Eastern Conference. Pascal Siakam had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Raptors, who face the Celtics again on Friday.

Masters starts today in Augusta

Golf season may still be a long way away from starting in the southwest, but golf fans can get excited this weekend as the prestigious Masters tournament starts today at Augusta, Georgia. 

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler is one of the favourites this weekend, while Tiger Woods returns looking for a record-tying sixth green jacket. 2003 champion Mike Weir leads a Canadian contingent that also includes Mackenzie Hughes, Adam Svensson and Corey Conners, who is coming off a victory in last weekend's Valero Texas Open.
