For the first time in six years, WHL playoff hockey will return to Swift Current.

The Broncos officially qualified after the Calgary Hitmen fell 4-3 to the Red Deer Rebels on Friday night at the Saddledome and will make their first postseason appearance since the team's Ed Chynoweth Cup championship season in 2018.

Since returning to Swift Current in 1986, the Broncos have made the playoffs 29 times in 38 WHL seasons, winning league championships in 1989, 1993 and 2018 and a Memorial Cup title in 1989.

The Broncos host the Brandon Wheat Kings tonight and are currently three points back of the Central Division-leading Medicine Hat Tigers with three games in hand. The Tigers dropped a 3-1 decision to the league-leading Saskatoon Blades on Friday at SaskTel Centre and visit the Prince Albert Raiders tonight.

Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. from Innovationplex with Redhead Equipment Case IH Broncos Hockey on Country 94.1 FM starting at 6:45 p.m.
