The investigation into a train/truck accident south of Swift Current yesterday continues.

At around 1:15 yesterday afternoon, the Ponteix RCMP Detachment were called to a train/truck collision at a level railway crossing in Cadillac along Highway #4.

A westbound Great Western Railway train collided with a southbound pulling a flat deck trailer, which contained a front end loader.  The train struck the trailer and loader, which became dislodged from the truck, and carried the debris about 1400' down the tracks.

There were no injuries; however, there was considerable damage to the trailer and loader, as well as to the train itself.  Two rail cars were derailed in the accident.

Both north and southbound lanes on Highway #4 at Cadillac were closed for a time until the train could be separated, allowing traffic to flow again.
