Two search warrants executed by the Swift Current City RCMP over the past week have three residents facing several drug and weapons-related charges.

The first warrant seized 30 grams of crystal meth (street value of $3,300), $850 in cash, multiple edged weapons, and drug paraphernalia from the residence of 315 4th Ave NW on April 30.

The RCMP have charged 18-year-old Bradley Melo and 20-year-old Blaine Peters.

Melo faces charges of:

  • Trafficking cocaine and methamphetamine;
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking;
  • Possession of proceeds of crime;
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose under the Criminal Code; and,
  • Breaching previous court conditions.

The case has been remanded and Melo will next appear on May 7 at 10:30 a.m.

Peters, meanwhile, is facing charges of trafficking methamphetamine and cocaine. He appeared in Provincial Court at 3 p.m. on Monday. That matter will be updated once details arise.

The more recent of the two warrants was on May 3 at 373 2nd Ave NE. City RCMP seized approximately two kilograms (just over 4.25 pounds) of Cannabis ($12,000 street value), 12 ounces of psilocybin ($2,400 value), over $6,800 in cash, drug paraphernalia, an imitation firearm, and several edged weapons.

The RCMP have charged 18-year-old Swift Current resident Ashton Krahn with the following:

  • Trafficking and possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act;
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under the Criminal Code; and,
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing and distributing illicit cannabis under the Cannabis Control Act.

He also appeared in Provincial Court at 3 p.m. on Monday, and updates will be provided on that matter as well as they arise.
