In the October 22 COVID-19 update from The Saskatchewan Health Authority they are reporting a total of 300 new confirmed cases of the virus in the province.

Of those 300 new cases there are 3 in the Far North West zone, 20 in the Far North East zone, 25 in the North West zone, 16 in the North Central zone, 6 in the North East zone, 78 in the Saskatoon zone, 5 in the Central West zone, 32 in the Central East zone, 38 in the Regina zone, 12 in the South Central zone, and 43 in the South East zone.

There are no new confirmed cases today in the South West zone.

There are 22 new cases with pending residence information.

Twenty-four cases with pending residence information were assigned as follows - 2 to the Far North West zone, 6 to the North West zone, 9 to the North Central zone, 2 to the Saskatoon zone, 3 to the Central East zone, 1 to the Regina zone, and 1 to the South Central zone.

Two cases tested out of the province were added as follows - 1 to the Central East zone, and 1 to the Regina zone.

One-third (33%) of new cases are in the 11 and under age category.

Over one-fourth (28.9%) of new cases eligible for vaccination (12 years and older) were fully vaccinated.

The seven-day average of new COVID-19 cases is 312 (25.9 new cases per 100,000 population).

That brings the provincial total number of cases to 75,842, of which 3,135 are considered active.

There are 68 active cases in the South West zone - 29 in the South West subzone 1, and 39 in the South West subzone 2.

The SHA has notified The Chinook School Division that there is 1 new COVID-19 case as of October 21 in the Herbert School, which has now been announced as an outbreak.

There are 259 recoveries reported, 2 of them in the South West zone, bringing the provincial total number of recoveries to 71,895.

There are 12 new deaths reported today, 1 of those in the South West zone,  bringing that provincial total to 812.

There are 308 people in the hospital - 228 receiving inpatient care, and 80 receiving intensive care.

Of those 308 patients, 226 (73.4%) were not fully vaccinated.

No cases were transferred out of the province to Ontario today, leaving the total number of patients transferred at 6.

To date there has been 1,205,702 COVID-19 tests processed in the province.

And yesterday, there were 3,023 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan.

Of the 13,671 variants of concern cases identified by whole genome sequencing in the province, 7,123 are Alpha (B.1.1.7), 10 are Beta (B.1.351), 484 are Gamma (P.1), and 6,054 are Delta (B.1.617.2).

There were 4,216 COVID-19 vaccines administered in Saskatchewan yesterday.

That brings the provincial total number of vaccines given to 1,638,704.

There are now 775,941 Saskatchewan residents who are fully vaccinated.
