Two friends from Shaunavon are taking part in The Great Cycle Challenge Canada, which goes until the end of August.

Mike Greenlay and Paul MacNeil are a part of the Challenge to raise money for children with cancer.

Mike Greenlay explains why the two men decided to be a part of the Challenge. "Well, I think both of us have had some dealings with cancer in our family, and it was kind of a little bit closer to home than some cases, so we recognized the cause and it was a good one."

For the Challenge, riders set a goal of reaching a certain number of kilometers, and raising a set amount of money for children with cancer.

Greenlay's goal of 200 kilometers was achieved and his goal of raising $500 went way beyond his expectations, ending up raising near $3,000.

Mike says he was overwhelmed with the response and thanks everyone who donated.

He adds there are about 10,000 people Canada wide taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge Canada and you can donate up until the end of this month.
