Minor hockey is starting to come back after the Christmas break, and the Southwest Sports Excellence U18 AA Broncos opened the second half with a two-game split in a weekend road swing.

Ryder Bradford scored the lone Broncos goal in an 8-1 loss to Estevan on Friday before scoring a hat trick in Swift Current's 10-3 over Moose Jaw on Saturday. Carter Tuplin added two goals and Aston Annesley picked up three assists in the win.

In junior female hockey, the Southwest CMX Impact fell 5-3 to the Western Prairie Klippers at home on Saturday. Jennae Carlson, Kayla Keith and Morgan Bailey scored for the Impact, who play the Klippers again in Eston on January 20.

Jets maintain league lead with win over Coyotes

Mark Scheifele scored twice as the Winnipeg Jets extended their points streak to 12 games with a 6-2 win in Arizona on Sunday night. Former Bronco Adam Lowry had a goal for the Jets, who hold the number-one overall record in the NHL. 

Meanwhile, Colin Blackwell had two goals including the game-winner in Chicago’s 4-3 victory over Calgary. Nazem Kadri scored twice for the Flames.

The Vancouver Canucks visit the New York Rangers as part of a four-game NHL schedule tonight.

Barrett hits season high as Raptors rout Warriors

RJ Barrett scored a season-high 37 points in his fourth game with his hometown team as the Toronto Raptors rolled past the Golden State Warriors 133-118 in the NBA on Sunday. The Toronto native was picked up by the Raptors in a trade with the New York Knicks in late-December.

The Raptors visit the Lakers on Tuesday.

Bills nab AFC East title with comeback win over Dolphins

Josh Allen passed for 359 yards and two touchdowns as the Buffalo Bills came back to beat Miami 24-18 to grab the AFC East title on the last day of the NFL regular season.

The Bills will be the AFC's #2 seed in the playoffs and will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round on Sunday while the sixth-seeded Dolphins head to Arrowhead to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. Houston hosts Cleveland in Saturday's other game while the Detroit Lions welcome the LA Rams on Sunday after claiming their first NFC division title since 1993. The Packers and Cowboys also play on Sunday and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Philadelphia Eagles to wrap up the Wild Card weekend on Monday. The Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers earned byes into next week's Divisional Round.

Meanwhile, the Michigan Wolverines face the Washington Huskies for the US College Football National Championship game tonight at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.
