A roller-coaster week ahead in southwest Saskatchewan.

Mostly-sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 20s have covered the region to start the week.

However, according to John Paul Cragg, Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, including today and tomorrow, it's the calm before the storm.

"Well we're expecting temperatures to really warm up. We've got a nice southerly flow bringing warm air into most of Saskatchewan; the really warm air will be blowing into southwest Saskatchewan. We're looking at a daytime high around 30 degrees for Thursday, before an area of low pressure starts to move into the province by bringing some rain and potential thunderstorms the night of June 1st, and the morning of June 2nd."

Cragg shares the importance of keeping informed of the weather with that chance of thunderstorms on the horizon.

"Depending on when the thunderstorms do move through, they could produce some severe weather. So it's important to pay attention to the forecast to ensure you have all the details before you plan anything through the week and part of the weekend."

Rain is scheduled to continue through June 2nd and 3rd. But, by the end of the weekend and into next week, sun is set to re-emerge in the southwest.
